Flash Flooding Incident - Latest Updates

Lift Station Update

About a hour ago an electrical short caused the South Street Lift Station pumps to stop running. Sewer Field Operations got the pumps restarted but an overflow of approximately 12,000 gallons left the station and reached the Indian River Lagoon. Ground contact areas will be treated. City will file a FDEP notice and State Watch office notice within the time required.

Sandbag Availability

Self-fill sandbags will be available at the City's Singleton Public Works Facility starting 12:30pm this afternoon in anticipation of additional rain accumulations later today.

Local State of Emergency

A Local State of Emergency has been declared by Mayor Connors effective 1000 27 October. This will allow the City to ease purchasing restrictions and other administrative items. Additionally, the City may waive certain building and permitting fees for residents who had property damaged by the floods and are rebuilding. More details to follow.

Red Cross Shelters

The City is coordinating with the local Red Cross to establish a shelter for those residents displaced by last night's flooding. Details will be posted once logistics are finalized.
