Weekday Rush Hour Service Enhancements on 2, 3 4 and 5 Lines Go Into Effect May 18

Better Service When Riders Need it the Most

Delivers More Reliable Trips for 1.2 Million Daily Customers

Utilizing Detailed Ridership and Operational Data to Improve Performance

Service improvements on the and lines during weekday morning and evening rush hours will go into effect on May 18. These schedule adjustments, presented to the MTA Board in January, add more trips during high ridership hours that previously had less service. These changes enhance service by reducing potential delays which improves reliability for 1.2 million daily riders across all four lines. Service adjustments are in response to feedback from customers and are part of New York City Transit's ongoing efforts to utilize detailed ridership and operational data analysis to reduce delays, increase reliability and improve performance.

Some train trips during AM and PM rush hours are shifting to earlier or later across all four subway lines to better align with ridership patterns. Full service enhancements on the and

lines effective May 18 include repositioning select trips to earlier or later during morning and evening rush hours to better match when the most customers take their rides. These changes result in an additional round trip for line riders and better reliability for all and

riders.

Based on ridership and on-time performance data, select trips have moved closer to the start or end of rush hours while others have been adjusted to service the rush hour peak.
