Marquette Habitat for Humanity announces involvement in Pope Leo Village Project at Building on Faith Breakfast

On Thursday, Jan. 29, the Marquette Habitat for Humanity club hosted this year's Building on Faith Breakfast in the Alumni Memorial Union in partnership with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity. The event brought together faith leaders, students, community partners and supporters from the Milwaukee community for interfaith dialogue focused on affordable housing and Habitat for Humanity's mission - that everyone deserves a decent place to live.

The program featured remarks from Brian Sonderman, CEO of Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity, and Kristi Sebald, volunteer services and events manager, who shared updates on Milwaukee Habitat's 2026 build season and opportunities for community engagement. During the event, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity formally announced its participation in the Pope Leo Village initiative, a national effort involving 16 Habitat affiliates that seeks to engage young people in supporting first-time homeownership. Marquette Habitat for Humanity will play an active role in the initiative through continued volunteer build days, fundraising efforts and ongoing partnership with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity.

Attendees also heard from a Habitat homeowner who shared the impact that Habitat for Humanity and homeownership has had in her life, as well as from Marquette Habitat for Humanity's president, Madeline Dellemann, who discussed the importance of affordable housing, Marquette Habitat's recent volunteer work and the club's ongoing partnership with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity.

The breakfast was made possible through the generous support of the McShane Endowment. Special thanks are also extended to the event's organizers, including Kristi Sebald, Jarrett Reiter, Dr. Yong Bai and the Marquette Habitat for Humanity Officers, Madeline Dellemann, Eva Hostetler, Mason Latus and Ian Fournier.
