Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will take part in a Nordic-Baltic (NB8) Summit in Tallinn on Tuesday 9 June. Items on the agenda for the summit include Ukraine and European security, defence industry cooperation, competitiveness and the use of artificial intelligence.

"The Nordic and Baltic countries are Finland's closest partners. Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine is now spilling over into our territory. We have close and good relations and our support for Ukraine is strong. I also see a great deal of potential in working together to find concrete and scalable solutions in the fields of AI and digitalisation. This would boost each country's competitiveness," Prime Minister Orpo said.

The summit will be chaired by the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kristen Michal. It will also be attended by Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir.

Nordic-Baltic cooperation (NB8) is an informal regional cooperation format. Since 1992, it has brought together the five Nordic and three Baltic countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Estonia holds the NB8 chairmanship in 2026.
