The entryway to Neighborhood House was once a badly damaged, cracked driveway and a large turf lawn. Through this project, the entrance has been transformed into over 900 square feet of porous pavement and over 1,000 square feet of rain gardens and bioswales. Together, this new, more welcoming space manages over 7,000 gallons of stormwater each time it rains.
Neighborhood House of Milwaukee has been positively impacting the lives of thousands of children and families for over 80 years. Their programming includes early childhood care, environmental education, adult workforce development, and education with the goal of empowering people to build brighter futures. The onsite green infrastructure connects perfectly with the environmental education programming at Neighborhood House while also helping improve the environment.
