Metzgar, Stefano: Somerset County Projects to Receive More Than $2.1 Million in State Funding

HARRISBURG - Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-69) and Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) announced more than $2.1 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grant funding was distributed to Somerset County to assist with projects aimed at boosting local infrastructure, public safety and community resources.

The following projects were approved for funding:

• Conemaugh Township: $286,937 to replace equipment at the Tire Hill Wastewater Treatment Plant.
• Greenville Township: $200,000 for a paving project from Mountain Road to State Route 2010 Greenville Road and State Route 2010 Greenville Road to the Summit Township Boundary Line.
• Jefferson Township: $200,000 for road improvements along Jefferson Road.
• Meyersdale Municipal Authority: $200,000 to be used for sanitary sewer replacement in Meyersdale Borough.
• Milford Township: $200,000 for the widening of Cross Road.
• Stonycreek Township: $136,911 to purchase a dump truck to be used in the township.
• Boswell Borough: $128,098 for the purchase of a dump truck.
• Somerset County Redevelopment Authority: $102,250 to complete the planning phase of a parking deck in the Uptown Business District located in Somerset Borough.
• Greenville Township: $100,000 for the purchase of a maintenance truck.
• Somerset County: $100,000 to buy emergency and maintenance vehicles for use countywide.
• Shade Township: $94,290 to purchase municipal equipment.
• Elk Lick Township: $81,087 to acquire a skid loader.
• Stoystown Borough: $77,267 for a new truck for Stoystown Volunteer Fire Company.
• Hooversville Borough: $73,605 to complete an LED lighting upgrade project.
• Berlin Borough: $70,971 to purchase a new police vehicle for the borough's police department.
• Somerset County Redevelopment Authority: $53,532 to buy fire rescue equipment for Sipesville Volunteer Fire Company.

"These are significant resources that will prove beneficial for Somerset County residents," said Metzgar. "This news represents a commitment to improving quality of life and encouraging economic growth in the communities we are proud to call home."

"These investments will strengthen public safety, improve infrastructure and further support essential municipal services across Somerset County," said Stefano. "From upgrading police and emergency response vehicles, to improving roads, water and sewer systems and municipal equipment, these projects address real, local needs. I'm proud to work alongside Rep. Metzgar to help secure this funding and ease the financial burden on local governments as they complete these important projects."

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania's economic growth.
