DGA Statement on Abigail Spanberger's Clear Win in Virginia Gubernatorial Debate

On the heels of Abigail Spanberger's win in the Virginia gubernatorial debate, DGA Political Director Chris Sloan released the following statement on how Winsome Sears is too extreme for Virginia:

"Winsome Sears just embarrassed herself. Sears proved she's too unhinged and extreme to be governor - and showed why even Donald Trump doesn't want to endorse her. In fact, Sears doubled down on her plans to ban abortion, her opposition to gay marriage, and her support for firing people for being gay, while refusing to name a single thing she'll do to help working families or stand up to Trump's ongoing attacks on Virginia jobs and health care. In contrast, Abigail Spanberger made clear she'll be a governor who works with anyone to put Virginia first and will always keep families safe. That's why she is the first Democratic candidate for governor to earn the endorsement of Virginia Police Benevolent Association in over a decade and will be the next governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia."
