Meeting of the Minister with Tajik Students in the United Kingdom

On 25 February 2026, on the margins of the first meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian countries and the United Kingdom in the "C5+1" format, held at the Parliament of the United Kingdom, a meeting took place between students from Central Asian countries, including Tajik students, and the foreign ministers of their respective states.

During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr.Sirоjiddin Muhriddin, familiarized himself with the living conditions and academic progress of Tajik students enrolled in higher education institutions of the United Kingdom. It was expressed with confidence that, upon successful completion of their studies, the students would return to Tajikistan and contribute their knowledge and expertise to the sustainable development and prosperity of their homeland.

Each year, under the Presidential Scholarship Programme "Durakhshandagon," talented young citizens of Tajikistan are sent to study in advanced countries, including the United Kingdom, pursuing degrees in economics, political science, and language studies at leading universities.

It is noteworthy that, on the sidelines of the meeting, Mr.Sirоjiddin Muhriddin and the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, Mr.Yvette Cooper, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of science, higher education, and studying the English language. The signed document will create new opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom in the areas of science and education.
