Bisignano Art Gallery Honors a Legacy of Leadership at the University of Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Experience a legacy of leadership at the University of Dubuque as the Bisignano Art Gallery opens its newest exhibit of the season during Homecoming celebrations.

"Stewards of Our Story: A Legacy of Leadership at the University of Dubuque" is free and open to the public Monday, September 29, 2025, through Friday, October 31, 2025, at the art gallery inside Heritage Center, 2255 Bennett Street.

Since 1852, UD has been guided by leaders devoted to preserving its rich history and boldly shaping its future. This exhibit honors the previous 11 presidents and other leaders who have faithfully served as stewards of UD's story. Each has left their mark on the life of UD's campus, its people, and generations of students who call it home. UD's 12th president, Travis L. Frampton, PhD, will also be featured.

"It is a privilege to stand on the foundation built by those who came before, and to help write the next chapter in the story of the University of Dubuque - one rooted in vision, care, and unwavering commitment to preparing students to live lives of purpose and service," Frampton said. "This display invites us to reflect on where we've been, celebrate where we are, and embrace the momentum that is carrying our university courageously into the future."

The display includes presidential portraits and an array of images showcasing UD's evolving campus - all reminders of the rich tradition and enduring Mission that continue to shape who UD is today.

"To my knowledge, an exhibit covering the entirety of our University presidential history has not been done at the University of Dubuque. Guests will see materials and photos never before seen outside the archives or in the library," said Noah Bullock (C'21, MMSM'25), coordinator of the art gallery. "Also, many photos will be reminiscent and bring back a lot of great UD memories. It has been an honor to curate this show. UD has, and always will be, my home."

Bullock's father, Rev. Jeffrey F. Bullock, PhD, was UD's 11th - and longest serving - president.

A free pre-show reception for “"Stewards of Our Story: A Legacy of Leadership at the University of Dubuque" will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, in the art gallery. The reception will take place in conjunction with Homecoming festivities.

Bisignano Art Gallery hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the academic year. The gallery is also open in conjunction with all major events in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center.
