Building Health Through Housing

The holiday timing made the effort especially meaningful as the team worked to fulfill a dream that will last well beyond the season. Housing is a key social determinant of health, and by helping provide a safe, stable home, UTMB employees are supporting the foundation for healthier lives.

"This reminds us that it's not always about technology. It's about serving our community," said Jayson Laban, interim chief information officer for UTMB. "I'm proud of our team for rolling up their sleeves and making a real impact. Their dedication reflects the heart and values of who we are."

Teamwork With Purpose

For many, the experience was more than volunteerism. It was a chance to strengthen bonds within the department. "It was a pleasure to volunteer alongside my seniors and managers," said Lyna Pham, an information technology fellow. "Coming together to give back was rewarding and enjoyable, especially during the holidays. Knowing we're helping fulfill a family's dream makes it even more meaningful."

From Building Systems to Building Homes

The project served as a unique team-building experience in every sense. While the IT team is known for creating systems and solutions, this time they came together to create something that changes lives: a home representing hope and stability.

In the spirit of the holiday season, UTMB's commitment to the community shines through efforts like these, proving that when purpose meets passion, the impact goes far beyond technology.
