On 25 September 2025, the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in New York, together with the World Health Organization, Spain and Angola co-hosted a side event on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, titled "Rescuing health-related SDGs in times of crisis: aligning multilateral collaboration for country impact," at the Permanent Mission of Thailand in New York. The event was attended by over 70 high-level representatives from UN Member States, international organizations, civil societies, and private sectors.

H.E. Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations in New York delivered the opening remarks along with Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, Dr. Mónica García Gómez, Minister of Health of Spain, as host of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, and H.E. Mr. Mateus Luemba, Deputy Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations in New York, as current Chair of the African Union. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of international cooperation in accelerating efforts to achieve the health-related SDGs by 2030, and presented Thailand's best practices to this end, such as domestic resource mobilization, health taxes for health promotion programmes, multisectoral partnership for universal health coverage and primary health care, and the importance of upholding international humanitarian and human rights law.

On this occasion, high-level representatives from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Wellcome Trust, UNAIDS, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) took part in the panel discussions to share their perspectives on the role of multilateral health and development agencies on driving forward the health-related SDGs in times of crisis.
