SIUE School of Business Hosts First Combined Advisory Board Meeting and Social at The Wedge

The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Business recently hosted a dynamic Advisory Board Meeting and Social, bringing together members from across the School's various advisory boards for an evening of collaboration, networking, and celebration. The event, held at The Wedge-one of the University's newest and most innovative spaces-marked the first time that the School has united its advisory boards for a shared event.

Representatives from the Accounting and Computer Management and Information Systems (CMIS) Advisory Boards joined members of the newly formed Finance Advisory Board, which was created to support the finance and emerging FinTech specializations. The social setting provided a unique opportunity for advisory members to connect with one another, exchange ideas, and engage with the next generation of business leaders.

In addition to board discussions, student organization leaders delivered short presentations highlighting their groups' missions, accomplishments, and upcoming initiatives. The students then had the chance to network directly with alumni, business partners, and community leaders, strengthening ties between the School and the regional business community.

"It was a great event-I'm so thrilled about SIUE being more active in the Riverbend area, and hopefully into downtown St. Louis, and it was cool to see The Wedge up close and in person. What a jewel!" said Joan E. O'Saben, CPA, a longtime School of Business Advisory Board Member. "The energy and engagement were palpable… thank you for shaking things up and raising the concept of bringing all of the School of Business advisory boards together, even if once annually. A bit revolutionary-I like it!"

The event exemplified the School's commitment to collaboration, innovation, and community engagement, setting the stage for future cross-board partnerships at The Wedge.
