Northern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association
Subject to AS 35.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Northern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (NSRAA)
PROJECT NAME: LAS 35731
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:
State-owned submerged land in Little Port Walter, approximately 56.3831°N 134.6425°W and 56.3831°N 134.6483°W.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
Approximately 6 acres of state-owned submerged land in NW1/4 NE 1/4 Section 28, Township 63 South, Range 69 East, Copper River Meridian and approximately 6 acres of state-owned submerged land in the NE1/4 NE 1/4 Section 28, Township 63 South, Range 69 East, Copper River Meridian.
REQUESTED ACTIVITY:
NSRAA (applicant) is requesting a five-year Land Use Permit to allow for the year-round moorage of adult salmon collection and holding net pens in Little Port Walter. The pens and associated infrastructure will be moved seasonally between the two locations in Little Port Walter, one for salmon-collection and holding and the other for overwintering storage. The net pen array contains four pens (40 feet by 40 feet each). Each pen is divided into four sections (20 feet by 20 feet each). Also on site are one adult fyke net capture pen (40 feet by 100 feet) and one floating work platform (30 feet by 30 feet). The pens and accompanying structures will be secured to the submerged land at eight points. Two 750-pound Danforth anchors and six rock bolts at one location and three 750-pound Danforth anchors and five rock bolts at the other, all below mean high water (MHW).
PROPOSED DATES OF USE:
Start: October 1, 2025
End: September 30, 2030
DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: November 12, 2025
The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a discussion is made on this activity.
