American Oncology Network Shares Clinical and Operational Expertise at NCODA International Spring Forum

FORT MYERS, Fla., April 22 2026 - American Oncology Network (AON), one of the nation's fastest-growing community oncology networks, participated in the 2026 NCODA International Spring Forum, held April 15-17 in Denver. The meeting brought together oncology professionals from across the country to address timely clinical topics and practical challenges in cancer care.

Hosted by Network for Collaborative Oncology Development & Advancement (NCODA), the annual spring forum is designed to foster collaboration, share best practices and provide actionable strategies that can be implemented in community oncology settings to improve patient outcomes.

AON clinicians and pharmacy leaders contributed to several discussions focused on advancing patient-centered care, improving access to treatment and integrating innovation into everyday practice.

Brooke Peters, PharmD, BCOP, an AON clinical pharmacist, presented on emerging therapies for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer. Her session highlighted the clinical implications of the first DLL3-targeting bispecific T-cell engager therapy in the second-line setting.

Joan Martens, CPhT, RPhT, AON pharmacy operations supervisor, moderated a multidisciplinary panel examining upcoming Medicare changes and their impact on patient access and affordability. The discussion focused on the 2026 Medicare Part D redesign and the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, with an emphasis on practical strategies to help patients navigate out-of-pocket costs and maintain access to care.

Sara Renzel, CPhT, COphT, an AON pharmacy prior authorization technician, led a session on the growing role of biomarker testing in oncology. She emphasized the importance of accurate documentation and interdisciplinary coordination to ensure timely treatment and payer approval.

Katie Goodman, RN, AON vice president of clinical research, participated in a panel exploring how artificial intelligence can help close gaps in clinical trial enrollment. The discussion highlighted how AI-enabled tools can support patient identification, streamline eligibility screening and improve access to clinical trials, particularly in community oncology settings.

Jesse Elder, CSPT, AON pharmacy operations services manager, presented a poster on drug monitoring in community oncology, highlighting strategies for smart monitoring and backup power systems to enhance safety and reduce costs

AON team members also contributed to poster presentations and panel discussions addressing operational efficiency, patient access and clinical innovation. Brooke Peters presented a poster on the first and only DLL3-Targeting Bispecific T-cell Engager (BiTE) Therapy for 2L ES-SCLC. Joan Martens also contributed to discussions on Medicare coverage changes and patient financial support strategies, while Sara Renzel presented on the role of biomarkers in shaping access to therapy. Katie Goodman further contributed to a panel discussion focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to improve clinical trial enrollment.
