Governor Polis Visits Grand Junction Business Supporting Coloradans with Sensory Needs

GRAND JUNCTION - Today, Governor Polis spent time at The Sensory Store in Grand Junction, getting to know the employees and customers behind one of the community's newest small businesses.

"Coloradans of all abilities deserve businesses that understand and meet their needs. The Sensory Store is exactly the kind of local innovation that makes Grand Junction, and Colorado, a more welcoming place to live, work, and play. This new local business is creating jobs and providing sensory tools, toys, and fidgets for individuals with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, and developmental disabilities. I'm proud to see small businesses stepping up to build a Colorado For All," said Governor Polis.

Created to meet a growing need in the community, the Sensory Store offers thoughtfully selected sensory products designed to support individuals of all ages and abilities, including those with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and other unique needs.

In April, the Sensory Store received a $15,000 grant through the Office of Economic Development and International Trade's Rural Jump-Start program to support the launch of its operations. The RJS program supports regional economic and workforce development activities that seek to expand local business, create new good-paying jobs, and strengthen and diversify local economies.
