Samsung in America: 2025 Environmental Toolkit

As a global leader, Samsung is committed to fostering a sustainable future through everyday actions and innovative solutions. Since launching our expanded environmental strategy in September 2022, we have consistently prioritized reducing environmental impact across every stage of our product lifecycle, embedding sustainability into our products and user experiences. This approach reflects Samsung's unwavering dedication to responsible business practices, both in the U.S. and globally.

Our 2025 US Environmental Toolkit shows how Samsung's international scale drives meaningful U.S. environmental impact. Key highlights include:

  • Sustainable Products and Lifecycle Management: Our thoughtfully designed products empower customers to minimize their environmental footprint in daily life. We emphasize recycling and material reuse, exemplified by our extensive repair services and our Certified Re-Newed program, which extends the life of older mobile devices by refurbishing them with 100% genuine Samsung parts and offering the same warranty as new devices.
  • Climate Action and Net Zero Commitments: Samsung has a long-standing history of climate leadership. Our comprehensive strategy includes achieving enterprise-wide net zero carbon emissions for our owned and operated facilities by 2030 for the Device eXperience Division (DX: Mobile eXperience, Visual Display, Digital Appliances, Networks, and Health & Medical Equipment), and by 2050 across all global operations including the Device Solutions Division (DS: Memory, System LSI, and Foundry).. We've sourced or matched all our US operations with renewable energy since 2019 and have reached 93.4% renewables for the DX division globally, and 31.4% company-wide, including the DS division. In addition, Samsung is making investments in emerging technologies that aim to reduce emissions, conserve water, and lower power consumption in operations and products.
  • Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency: We are closing the loop on materials throughout the product lifecycle, from raw material sourcing to recycling and recovery. We've even set a new goal for 2030: to incorporate at least one recycled material in every module of every mobile product. And we've expanded our use of recycled materials in Galaxy devices to include eight key materials, including plastic, glass, aluminum, cobalt, rare earth elements, gold, copper, and steel. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ feature recycled Armor Aluminum for their external frames, making them the first Galaxy smartphones to have every external component incorporate recycled materials. Samsung will eliminate all single-use plastic from mobile packaging this year, and has collected over 6.9 million metric tons of e-waste since 2009, nearing our goal of 7.5 million metric tons by 2030. To date, we've incorporated over 768,000 tons of recycled plastics globally into our products, surpassing our target of 500,000 tons by 2030 last year.
  • Community Engagement and Education: Through initiatives like Solve for Tomorrow, the Global Goals App, and our commitment to community volunteerism, Samsung fosters environmental literacy and supports innovative solutions to societal challenges, including climate change. We demonstrate our values of "Tech for All" through accessibility features and platforms that incorporate technological innovation so that all our customers can enjoy using our products and services.

While significant progress has been made, we recognize the need for continuous adaptation to evolving societal and consumer demands. Our efforts to advance product energy efficiency, expand renewable energy use, and drive operational sustainability remain central to our mission.
