(August 28, 2025) Julie Simpson joins MUSC Health Charleston region as executive director of human resources

Veteran HR leader to drive strategic workforce initiatives and strengthen team engagement across MUSC Health entities

Charleston, S.C. (Aug. 28, 2025) - MUSC Health welcomes Julie Simpson as the new executive director of Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP) for Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Charleston region, MUSC Physicians (MUSCP) and MUSC Health Partners (MHP). Simpson will join the Charleston Division's executive leadership team.

"Julie has consistently delivered exceptional results in human resources work, and she is an excellent addition to our executive leadership team and MUSC Health," said Saj Joy, M.D., chief executive officer of MUSC Health-Charleston Division.

In this role, Simpson will be responsible for leading strategic human resources initiatives for the Charleston region. She will manage the HRBP team, focusing on increasing retention and improving care team member engagement.

Simpson brings more than 25 years of progressive human resource leadership experience, including more than eight years as vice president and chief human resources officer at University Health System associated with the University of Tennessee.
