November City Manager Recruitment Update

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Independence City Council unanimously agreed to hire the search firm SGR to conduct a national search for the next city manager for the City of Independence.

The Council made this 7-0 decision during a special council meeting on Oct. 20.

The subcommittee noted the firm has a nationwide reach for viable, quality candidates to fill the position. SGR has completed nearly two dozen City Manager searches in the Midwest, including Springfield, Missouri, Olathe, Kansas, Battle Creek, Michigan, and Fort Collins, Colorado.

"This is an exciting time to shape the future of Independence," said the chair of the City Manager Recruitment Subcommittee, Councilmember Bridget McCandless. "Quality leadership matters, and selecting a search firm is an important step towards finding the next city manager. This person will lead Independence through a World Cup, our upcoming bicentennial, and into our next 200 years."

As the process continues, more updates will be communicated to the citizens of Independence.
