UW Planetarium and SciDIY Makerspace to Host ‘Dome After Dark’ Event Nov. 8

The University of Wyoming's Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium, in collaboration with the SciDIY Makerspace, will host Dome After Dark -- an immersive evening of sound, light and creative energy -- Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.

The 18-and-older event will feature two figures in Colorado's electronic music scene -- Tom Hoch Jr. and Scott Everett -- along with local artists from the UW Innovation Network. Tickets are $12 and available at www.uwyo.edu/physics/planetarium/schedule.html.

Hoch has spent more than three decades shaping the intersection of music, media and technology. One of the original team members behind Beatport, Hoch helped transform a local concept into a global hub for electronic music. He also founded milehighhouse productions, a Colorado artist collective now celebrating its 25th anniversary, and co-founded FaderPro.com, The Public Works and Battery 621, expanding his focus into immersive storytelling and experiential design.

Everett, founder of Mother Earth Sound System, has been a pioneer of Colorado's underground electronic movement for more than 30 years. His outdoor events and full-moon gatherings combined nature, sound and community to help shape the region's techno culture. A software engineer and multimedia designer by day, Everett continues to explore the intersection of design, sound and human experience.

Local artists from the UW Innovation Network will add their own sonic and visual flair to the evening. Jane daPain, a DJ and immersive artist, will perform a set blending deep house, techno and ambient layers. VJs Cypher X, OsVinci and Space Raven will transform the 360-degree planetarium dome with live visuals, digital mapping and reactive light art.

Space Raven -- also known as UW undergraduate Amelia Myers, a double major in astrophysics and physics from Snohomish, Wash. -- will contribute live cosmic-inspired projections designed to sync with the music.
