Second interested parties meeting regarding traffic calming on Whitegate Drive to be held May 27

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Whitegate Drive has been identified by a traffic study as having vehicles operating at speeds higher than desirable. The City of Columbia Public Works department has scheduled a second informal open house meeting concerning traffic calming on Whitegate Drive. The meeting will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in Room 1A of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.

Public Works staff have developed a conceptual traffic calming plan based on feedback received during the first interested parties meeting held Dec. 4, 2025. The conceptual plan will be available for public review and discussion at the meeting.

At the meeting, information and diagrams will be available for public review and City engineering staff will be present to answer questions. The website for this traffic calming project can be found at BeHeard.CoMo.gov/Whitegate-Drive-traffic-calming. Public comments will be accepted at the meeting and may also be submitted through the BeHeard webpage through June 10. Comments will be considered as the designs are developed.

Members of the public may attend any open meeting. For requests for accommodations related to disability, please call 573.874.CITY (2489) or email [email protected]create new email. In order to assist staff in making the appropriate arrangements for your accommodation, please make your request as far in advance of the posted meeting date as possible.
