2026 MPO Pool Operation Class Schedule
Chapter 43A of the Dallas City Code requires all pool and spa facilities to have a certified Manager of Operations, with certifications renewed every two years. The Department of Code Compliance provides all training courses.
To register, submit the Manager of Pool Operations (MPO) Registration Form with your preferred class date. The fee is $50 per person (non-refundable), paid by check or money order to the City of Dallas.
Payments must be submitted or mailed to the Special Collections Division at 1500 Marilla St., Suite 2DS, Dallas, TX 75201. Payments are not accepted at class.
Classes run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., with Spanish-language sessions available on select dates. To cancel or substitute, call (214) 671-2791 at least three business days before class.

What Residents Should Know About Mosquito Season:
Mosquito season in Dallas officially runs from May 1 through October 30, and the City of Dallas Code Compliance Services continues proactive mosquito surveillance and treatment efforts throughout the city during this time period. The City maintains approximately 90 mosquito trap locations strategically placed across Dallas to monitor mosquito activity and test for the presence of West Nile Virus.
When a mosquito sample receives a confirmed positive test result through Dallas County Health and Human Services or the Texas Department of State Health Services laboratory, public notification information is typically updated at least 24 hours in advance of any planned ground spray operation.
Ground spraying operations are generally conducted during evening and overnight hours, beginning around 9:00 p.m., when mosquito activity is at its highest. Operations are carefully coordinated to account for environmental and public safety considerations. Spraying is not conducted during rain or high wind conditions, near bodies of water, or when residents and pets are present in treatment areas.
Residents are also encouraged to remember the Four Ds of mosquito prevention:

Drain standing water around homes and businesses • Dusk and Dawn are peak mosquito activity times • Dress in long sleeves and light-colored clothing when outdoors • DEET and other EPA-approved insect repellents should be used as directed.
Residents may also request placement on the City's "Do Not Spray" list for properties where treatment is not desired along the property boundary.

Why doesn't the City spray mosquitoes on request?
Mosquito control is based on science, not service requests. We only conduct mosquito spraying when trap data shows:
✅ A mosquito trap tests positive for a mosquito-borne disease (such as West Nile virus), or
✅ A trap captures high numbers of disease-carrying mosquitoes over multiple weeks.
The best way to reduce mosquitoes is to eliminate standing water around your home each week. Empty buckets, bird baths, pet bowls, clogged gutters, old tires, and anything else that collects water. No standing water means fewer mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes don't respect property lines, so neighborhood-wide prevention makes the biggest difference.
