November 5, 2025 - Midland, Michigan has been named the Best Place to Retire in the United States by U.S. News and World Report in its 2026 rankings.
The annual Best Places to Retire list evaluated over 850 cities across the United States, assessing key factors such as affordability, recreational opportunities, quality of life, access to health care, and volunteer engagement. Midland earned the nation's top spot for its economic strength, abundance of outdoor and cultural amenities, leisure accessibility, walkability, and robust community engagement programs.
"This recognition reflects the dedication of our residents, staff, community leaders, and organizations who work every day to make Midland a place where people can thrive at every stage of life," said City Manager Brad Kaye.
