City of Aurora announces closures and special hours for Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays

In observance of Christmas and New Year's Day holidays, some city of Aurora locations will be closed or have adjusted hours in and around Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1. Please note that the closures and special hours noted below reflect only those times that differ from normal operating hours. Here are the closures and special hours for city of Aurora locations:

All Municipal Offices and Courts

• Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Aurora Animal Shelter

• Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

For urgent animal-related matters that cannot wait until the next business day, call 303.627.3100.

Aurora History Museum

• Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Bicentennial Art Center

• Closed through Jan. 1

Libraries

• Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Aurora Public Library no longer charges late fees on overdue items; no holds expire on closed days.

Parks, Recreation and Open Space

Aurora Center for Active Adults

Dec. 24 and 31 - closing at 3 p.m.

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Aurora Reservoir

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Central Recreation Center

Dec. 24 and 31 - closing at 3 p.m.

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Expo Community Center

Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 - closing at 3 p.m.

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Golf Courses

Dec. 25 - closed

Jan. 1 - open (weather permitting)

All golf courses are open other days through the holidays, dependent on weather and snow cover. Please call the courses to check on availability.

Moorhead Recreation Center

Dec. 24 and 31 - closing at 3 p.m.

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Morrison Nature Center

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Plains Conservation Center

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Preschools

Closed through Jan. 1

Quincy Reservoir

Closed for the season.

Senac Creek Nature Center

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Southeast Recreation Center and Fieldhouse

Dec. 24 and 31 - closing at 3 p.m.

Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 - closed

Utah Indoor Pool

Closed until further notice

Notes:

On city holidays, payment for parking at on-street parking meters and commuter pay permit zones is not required. All other posted regulatory parking restrictions remain in effect and are enforced.

Not affected by the holiday closures are the Detention Center, Police, Fire Rescue and Public Safety Communications operations.
