University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh student Gabe Lee, who is majoring in information systems, is relishing his second-place honors in the The Pitch held at Neuroscience Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton.

Created by the Fox Connection, a collaboration of premier colleges and universities in northeast Wisconsin, the competition April 27 brought together top teams from UWO, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Lawrence University and St. Norbert College.

As runner-up, Torres took home $7,000 and other in-kind prizes for his Nexum-Unified Athlete Management business pitch that features an all-in-one performance platform. His idea was developed in collaboration with UWO Football staff and empowers coaches and athletes to track wellness, monitor progress and build personalized workout programs.

Josh Lee, also a UWO information systems major, pitched his Titan Academic Advisor at the regional competition. Lee advanced to the Fox Connection Pitch after taking first at the UWO Culver Pitch event April 2. Lee hopes his pitch can provide value to universities that will pay an annual subscription fee. He said the platform enables students to search courses, plan degree pathways, track academic progress and receive personalized recommendations-all within a clean, intuitive interface.

"Both Josh Lee and Gabe Torres represented us exceptionally well in a very competitive field," said Heather Veeser, UW-Oshkosh Sales Program manager, who added that UWO digital marketing students showed up in full force to cheer on their fellow Titans.

Veeser said Torres is now working with the athletic department on implementing his program and Lee will further explore his idea with UWO Chancellor Manohar Singh.

The Pitch is a startup business pitch competition among college student teams in Northeast Wisconsin. Competing teams advanced from their campus competitions, with the opportunity to win cash and in-kind services to further their entrepreneurial pursuits.
