Construction Project Changes

North Ash St. between Indiana Ave. and Maxwell Ave.

Work on the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project for City stormwater system work has been postponed. Drivers traveling on southbound on N. Ash St. will experience significant slowdowns between W. Indiana Ave. and W. Maxwell Ave. Monday, Sept. 22 through Wednesday, Sept. 24. This work was originally scheduled to begin Sept. 9.

What to Expect:

  • Southbound lanes on Ash St. will be merge from three lanes to ONE LANE Sept. 22-24 between Augusta Ave. and Maxwell Ave.
  • Lane reductions likely to cause congestion on eastbound Northwest Blvd. and southbound Ash St.
  • Pedestrians may experience sidewalk detours.
  • Local access will be maintained.

Alternative Suggestions:

  • Use an alternative arterial route to bypass this area during peak traffic times.
  • Alter drive times to avoid traffic volume between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Utilize remote work if possible.

Rockwood Blvd. between Grand Blvd. and Cowley St.

Construction work will require Rockwood Blvd. to be CLOSED to all traffic between Grand Blvd. and Cowley St., Monday, Sept. 15 through Wednesday, Sept. 17 for water, sewer, and stormwater systems work on the Rockwood Boulevard project. This section of street is just south of Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital. The project also includes rehabilitation of the pavement with a grind and overlay and redesign of the intersection at Rockwood Blvd., Cowley St., and 10th Ave. The project is expected to be completed in mid-October.

What to Expect:

  • Rockwood Blvd. between Grand Blvd. and Cowley St. will be CLOSED to all traffic Sept. 15-17.
  • North/south traffic will open on Rockwood Blvd. at the Sumner Ave. / 10th Ave. intersection.
  • Sumner Ave. / 10th Ave. will be closed between Grand Blvd. and Sherman St. for east/west through traffic.
  • 9th Ave. will be one lane in each direction to access healthcare employee parking garage.
  • No on-street metered parking available on 9th Ave. between Grand Blvd. and Cowley St.
  • No on-street metered parking available on Rockwood Blvd. between Grand Blvd. and Cowley St.
  • Pedestrians may experience sidewalk detours.
  • Local access will be maintained.
