Hoot Honored for Years of Service

The City of Key West and the City Commission this month recognized Parking's David Hoot for his ten years of dedicated service to the City.

Hoot began his career with the City in 2015 as a Parking Enforcement Officer, and over the years, he has grown into his current role as our Right-of-Way Coordinator and Administrative Assistant for the Parking Division.

"If you've ever needed to reserve a parking space, close a sidewalk for tree trimming, tent a house, place a dumpster, park a moving van, or even cater a street event, David is the person who makes it happen," said Parking Director John Wilkins.

"In the front office, he is the go-to person for issuing parking permits, regulating news racks, taking payments for parking citations, and answering the endless stream of questions that come through about parking in our city," he said.

He noted that Hoot is exceptional at training and cross-training his colleagues, ensuring the entire Parking Division operates smoothly and efficiently.

Outside of work, Hoot is a stained-glass artist at the Guild Hall Gallery, where he brings light and color to his art just as he does to our workplace.
