TDS donating $1K to support Albany, Wis. elementary school students
January 7, 2026TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is donating $1,000 to Albany Elementary School to provide healthy snacks for students during the school day for the remainder of the academic year. This initiative ensures children have access to healthy options, helping to bridge the gaps caused by missed meals and supporting their ability to learn and thrive.
"As TDS deepens its commitment to Albany through high-speed internet network upgrades, we're also proud to step up our community giving," said TDS Associate Manager of Field Marketing Liz Menz. "We're excited to make this donation and help support Albany Elementary School students reach their full potential."
TDS broke ground in mid-2025 on a multi-year network upgrade project to bring at least 100 Mbps and up to 1 Gig internet service to addresses in the company's Albany-area footprint. The Madison-headquartered company is using the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model program (E-ACAM) to help fund the work. E-ACAM provides funding to deploy and support 100/20 Mbps or faster broadband service to some of TDS' most rural geographies.
Construction on the new infrastructure includes accessing public utility easements to install conduit and fiber-optic cables, as well as upgrading aerial cables. The faster speeds will become available to customers in phases as construction progresses.
TDS' philanthropic donation in Albany comes on the heels of the company's support of a special Holiday Pop-up Food Pantry in Janesville. By partnering with the YMCA and ECHO, Inc., the program made easy-grab meals available over the school district's winter break so families would not experience food insecurity.
