What Survivors Can Do After the Application Deadline Has Passed

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -While the April 3, 2026, disaster assistance application deadline has passed, help is still available for Alaskans impacted by Typhoon Halong. Survivors can call the FEMA Alaska Call Center at 1-866-342-1699 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for assistance with their application.

Stay in Touch with FEMA

After applying, FEMA will send you a decision letter by mail or email. If the letter from FEMA states that you were denied assistance, you have 60 days from the date on the letter to appeal the decision. FEMA may simply need additional information to continue processing your application.

The decision letter will explain the reason for FEMA's determination and provide instructions on how to appeal. It is often as simple as a missing document, which you can upload to your FEMA application or submit with your appeal.

Survivors can receive assistance with their application or understanding the letter by:

Contact the Small Business Administration (SBA)

The SBA offers low-interest, long-term disaster loans to eligible homeowners and renters to repair or replace their home or personal property not covered by insurance or other assistance. Businesses and nonprofits can also apply for physical damage loans-including loss of income.

2-1-1 connects you to a trained operator 24/7 that has access to a comprehensive database with a multitude of services in your community. By its design, the 2-1-1 system is ideally suited for serving as the initial contact point for any variety of programs. 2-1-1 is designed to assist families from all walks of life, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and low-income households by facilitating access to public services.
