Greensboro Parks and Recreation to Host National Trails Day, World Promenade

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual National Trails Day and World Promenade events this upcoming weekend.

The department and over 30 community partners will celebrate National Trails Day from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, June 6, at Country Park, 3905 Nathanael Green Dr. The annual World Promenade, hosted in partnership with nonprofit Greensboro Beautiful, Inc., will take place from 1-5 pm on Sunday, June 7, at the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden, 1105 Hobbs Rd.

Trails Day will feature activities such as guided hikes, standup paddleboard demonstrations, mountain bike demos and group rides, the wild animals of the ECO Bus, group trail runs, live music, birdwatching, and a geocaching trail. Children can enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, inflatable games, and activities from community partners. The Country Park pedal boats will be available to rent at the discounted price of $5. Friendly pets on a leash are welcome. Food vendors, including Stackette, Mackie's Munchies, The Local & The Lebanese, and Sno-Cone Factory, will be on hand selling refreshments.

The World Promenade brings the garden to life and represents the diverse community members of Greensboro. There will be artists and vendors selling their wares, as well as singers and performers from the international community who will take the stage, including the Travis Williams Group, Africa Unplugged, Latin Soul Quartet, West End Mambo, Flamenco Dance Program, NC Brazilian Art Project, Greek Orthodox Church Dancers, and Triad Aerial Arts.

There will also be activities for the whole family, including musikgarten demos, face painting, hula hooping, the beloved "pooch parade" - so be sure to bring the family dog - and more.

Food and beverage vendors will be selling goods.

Admission is free for both events. Additional event parking for National Trails Day is available at Jaycee Park, 3802 Jaycee Park Dr. with golf cart shuttles available for visitors to get to and from the event space. World Promenade will offer a free shuttle that will take visitors from a parking area on Pembroke Road, behind the former K&W Cafeteria, 3200 Northline Ave., to the event.
