Krishnamoorthi Slams Trump’s Illegal Threat to Defund Chicago, Vows to Fight Unlawful Power Grab

WASHINGTON - Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi condemned President Trump's renewed threat to unlawfully withhold Congressionally approved funding from Chicago and other cities whose laws prohibit local law enforcement from assisting in immigration enforcement operations with ICE and other federal agencies.

"Donald Trump is threatening to illegally withhold Congressionally approved funding to punish Chicago and other cities that won't bow to him. Courts have already blocked this kind of unlawful power grab, and he's trying it again anyway. I'm fighting this in Congress and will support every legal effort to stop it. In the United States of America, the president is bound by the law; he is not above it."
