SGMC Health hosted the 3rd Annual South Georgia Regional Graduate Medical Education (GME) Conference on Saturday, September 13, bringing together resident physicians and medical educators from across the region for a day of learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Participants included residents and faculty from SGMC Health, Archbold, Coffee Regional Medical Center, Georgia South, and CareConnect. Resident physicians represented specialties including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, and Transitional Year, showcasing the diversity and depth of medical training across South Georgia. Representatives from the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Physicians were also in attendance, further supporting the development of future leaders in medicine.
The event opened with a keynote address by Will Kemp, Chairman of the Georgia Board of Healthcare Workers, titled "Innovating Healthcare Education for the Next Generation." Kemp emphasized the importance of adaptive learning models and interprofessional collaboration in shaping the future of medical education.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged in twelve physician-led lectures covering a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence in medicine, alcohol withdrawal management, mentorship in residency, hepatitis, infectious disease, and more.
