CORREA VOTES AGAINST DHS FUNDING WITH NO GUARDRAILS

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) released the following statement on his 'no' vote on the GOP continuing resolution, which includes funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

"Today, the House voted on a continuing resolution that includes funding for DHS, but it still doesn't put any real guardrails in place. And buried inside is a backdoor that lets money get shifted over to Border Patrol without Congress ever having a real say. In recent weeks, immigration agents have shot and killed people in Texas and Maine, neither of whom was the target of the operation. There is an urgent need for major reforms to keep our communities safe from violence.

"DHS was created to defend Americans against foreign terrorists. Instead, we have permanent residents and American citizens being shot by ICE agents in our streets. It is dangerous to provide more funding to agencies that are not accountable. I can't vote for a bill that hands out money with no oversight attached."
