Several draft laws for harmonising domestic legislation with EU acquis adopted

At today's session, the Government of the Republic of Serbia approved several draft laws related to further harmonization of domestic legislation with the acquis communautaire of the European Union, as well as the fulfilment of obligations stipulated in the Reform Agenda and the process of accession to the European Union.

The Draft Law amending the Law on Mandatory Social Insurance Contributions has been approved, which aligns the benefits for hiring new persons with the regulations on state aid control.

Members of the Government also adopted the Draft Law amending the Law on Corporate Income Tax, the Draft Law amending the Law on Personal Income Tax, as well as the Draft Law amending the Law on Tobacco, which specify the powers of inspection bodies, postpone the deadlines for the implementation of certain obligations related to the labeling of tobacco products, and introduce new rules for recording and placing on the market existing stocks.

The Government also adopted the Decision on granting consent to the Rulebook on the List of Medicines Prescribed and Dispensed at the Burden of Mandatory Health Insurance and the Decision amending the Decision on Maximum Prices of Medicines.

The new List of Medicines has enabled the expansion of the List of Medicines to include new innovative medicines and a significant reduction in co-payments for 769 medicines from List A1, which will mean that patients will pay lower co-payments for a large number of therapies.

Members of the Government have adopted decrees on the termination of the validity of the Decree amending the Decree on the criteria for determining the amount of study fees at higher education institutions founded by the Republic and the Decree on the termination of the validity of the Decree amending the Decree on the norms and standards of working conditions of universities and faculties for activities financed from the budget, thus returning the distribution of teaching staff working hours to the solutions that were in force before their adoption.

The 2025 amendments were adopted as a temporary measure to enable the reimbursement of teaching during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 school years, when due to the interruption of classes it was necessary to increase the number of classes.

The cabinet also adopted the Environmental Protection Strategy - Green Agenda for the Republic of Serbia for the period until 2033.
