Pueblo, Colo. - This year, Governor Jared Polis is inviting Coloradans to pull up a seat at the Governor's Table at the Colorado State Fair on September 1st in Pueblo. Built on the belief that breaking bread with a neighbor creates a stronger, more connected Colorado, this year's gathering invites attendees to share a meal and foster the profound joy of community connection. The Governor's Table is a twist on the fair's annual Governor's Plate food truck competition, to honor and celebrate the 150th anniversary of Colorado's statehood.
"I look forward to the Governor's Plate as a celebration of Colorado's world-class agriculture and talented chefs. This year, we're building on that tradition for our 150th anniversary as a state with the Governor's Table, because good food is even better when it's shared. I'm excited to welcome Coloradans to the State Fair on September 1st to share a plate, swap stories, and celebrate the connections, people, and food that make our state so special," said Governor Jared Polis.
Part of the 150 Tables Across Colorado initiative in partnership with Longer Tables, the Governor's Table is designed to bring Coloradans together to share a meal, connect with their neighbors, and create a state where everyone feels like they belong.
"Before Colorado even became a state, our farmers, ranchers, and producers understood that coming together to exchange knowledge and share stories could build a stronger, more connected Colorado," said Tim Jones, executive director of Longer Tables. "On September 1, as we set 150 tables across the state, the Governor's Table will remind us that a flourishing Colorado begins - both symbolically and literally - at a table where everyone knows they belong."
As every year, the event will highlight Colorado Proud ingredients as well as restaurateurs and chefs representing the state's diverse culinary landscape.
"Each year the Colorado State Fair is a gathering place for Coloradans of all backgrounds and from all areas," said Andrea Wiesenmeyer, general manager of the Colorado State Fair. "Gathering around a singular table to celebrate the diverse agriculture of our communities is a fantastic reminder of how much more we have in common."
