Penn State Altoona professor delivers keynote at Eisenhower Society meeting

Brian Black, distinguished professor of history and environmental studies at Penn State Altoona, recently had his article "Waking Up Three Mile Island to Give Nuclear Power a New Twist" published in the online journal "National Interest."

ALTOONA, Pa. - Brian Black, distinguished professor of history and environmental studies at Penn State Altoona, was the keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society in Gettysburg on Oct. 11. The meeting marked the 135th anniversary of Eisenhower's birth.

Black discussed his newest book, "Ike's Road Trip: How Eisenhower's 1919 Convoy Paved the Way for the Roads We Travel," which details how a 1919 cross-country convoy led by Eisenhower influenced the future Interstate Highway System.
