Washington, D.C. - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the next set of prescription drugs that will be subject to negotiation by Medicare.
"Two of the best-selling and most expensive cancer drugs - Keytruda and Opdivo - are not on this list thanks to Trump and congressional Republicans," Wyden said. "When it comes to lowering drug prices, there is no greater fraud than Donald J. Trump. He has spent his first year in office parading executives from Big Pharma into the Oval Office, making big promises, and delivering none of them. As a direct result of the Big Ugly Bill, passed with only Republican votes and signed into law by Trump, seniors fighting cancer will be forced to pay more for life-saving drugs. Democrats gave Medicare the means to fight back against high drug prices on behalf of American seniors, and Republicans are doing everything possible to throw sand in the gears."
