The City of Greensboro will activate an Orange Flag cooling center tonight in response to the extreme heat.
Operated by Greensboro Community Safety Department (CSD) staff, the Orange Flag cooling center will be open 7 pm to 7 am at the Interactive Resource Center, 407 E. Washington St. It is available to both single adults and families.
Activation of the Orange Flag occurs on days when the forecasted daytime temperatures reach 90 degrees or higher, and overnight temperatures do not fall below 70 degrees.
Please note the daytime cooling stations and hydration station in Greensboro operate regardless of the Orange Flag status during the summer months. For more information on initiatives put in place to support the Greensboro community during extreme heat, visit www.Greensboro-nc.gov/CoolingCenters .
