KINGSTON -- Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) joined Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday today to host a Senior Scam Prevention and Awareness event at the Kingston Active Adult Center, equipping older Pennsylvanians with tools to recognize and avoid increasingly sophisticated scams.
"Scammers are becoming more aggressive and more convincing, and too many seniors are paying the price," Baker said. "We want our seniors to feel confident recognizing red flags and empowered to take action when something doesn't seem right."
Pennsylvania has the third-highest percentage of older adults in the nation, with nearly 2 million residents age 65 and older. Seniors are a frequent target for scam artists, who employed a wide range of tactics to steal more than $76 million from Pennsylvania residents in 2025. The event focused on educating seniors about emerging threats and how to protect themselves from fraud.
Sunday emphasized the growing role of technology in fraud schemes and the importance of reporting suspicious activity.
"Educating and empowering seniors across Pennsylvania to recognize scams is essential," Sunday said. "It was a great day to be in northeastern Pennsylvania with Sen. Baker, hearing directly from residents and helping answer their questions so they can better protect themselves."
During the event, officials highlighted several key topics, including:
Attendees were encouraged to remain vigilant, verify unsolicited requests and report scams to the Office of Attorney General.
