SALEM, Ore. - On April 11, 2026, at approximately 1:18 p.m., the Salem Police Department responded to a report of a 19-year-old student, who had been found deceased at a residence on the Willamette University campus in the 200 block of 12th Street NE. The individual was discovered by visiting family members.

The Marion County District Attorney's Office was notified, and the Marion County Medical Examiner responded to the scene. At this time, the investigation does not appear to be criminal in nature, and no additional details are available.

This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to students or other campus community members. As a reminder, the Marion County District Attorney's Office reviews all incidents involving a loss of life, regardless of whether criminal activity is suspected.

The Salem Police Department extends its heartfelt condolences to the individual's family and to the Willamette University community during this difficult time and asks that their privacy be respected as they navigate this tragic loss.
