Strickland Secures $8 Million for the South Sound

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) announced $8,165,000 in federal funding for 12 South Sound projects that support agricultural communities, improve local pedestrian and traffic safety, boost clean water access, purchase fire engines, and more.

"Despite the challenges we face with the Republican majority in Congress, I am pleased to secure funding for these essential community projects in our district," said Strickland. "They will boost the local economy, and make the South Sound a cleaner, safer, and more affordable place to live and work."

The twelve FY26 Community Project Funding (CPF) grants receiving funding are:

• City of Edgewood - Interurban Trail Phase III
• City of Fircrest - Alameda Ave-Emerson Street to Rosewood Lane
• City of Olympia - Armory Redevelopment Project
• City of Puyallup - Meeker Street Improvement Project
• City of Roy - Water Infrastructure Project
• City of Tacoma - Fire Engine Replacement
• City of Tenino - Regional Meat Processing Infrastructure
• City of University Place - Chambers Bay Access
• City of Yelm - Downtown Business Revitalization Strategy
• Pierce County Transit - System-Wide ADA Signage Improvements 
• Tacoma Housing Authority - Salishan-Hillside Phase I
• Thurston County Fairgrounds - Emergency Evacuation and Agricultural Center

Despite the Trump Administration's proposed dramatic cuts to federal funding and grants programs, Strickland and House Democrats were still able to secure funds in the final appropriations bills to support local economies and job creations, keep communities safe, and bring down the cost of living.
