Aledade, a physician-led, national leader in value-based care, today announced the appointment of Daren Thayne as chief technology officer and Josh C. Mandel, MD, as chief scientist, bringing deep expertise in enterprise scale and open data standards to the company. Leveraging their combined experience, Aledade will further integrate advanced AI into its platform to deliver seamless, actionable insights that empower primary care organizations to improve patient outcomes.
"Aledade has spent more than a decade building technology in service of a simple idea: keep patients healthy, and let practices share in the value," said Farzad Mostashari, MD, co-founder and CEO of Aledade. "AI raises the stakes on that alignment. Deployed inside fee-for-service, it accelerates billing. Deployed inside our value-based care model, it accelerates health. Daren and Josh have built infrastructure and open standards at national scale, and they're joining us to make sure that the value created by AI in healthcare flows to patients and practices."
Thayne will lead Aledade's engineering and data organizations, bringing decades of experience in cloud-native software and multi-tenant system scalability. He joins Aledade from Domo, where he spent over 15 years as a founding technology leader, chief technology officer and executive vice president of product. There he led development of breakthrough technology solutions that enabled the massive scale needed to support thousands of enterprise clients, and rapid deployment of AI-based tools that were central to how customers used their data. Prior to Domo, he served as chief technology officer at Ancestry.com, where he led the team that built the company's SaaS platform.
"Throughout my career, I've focused on building platforms that process massive data complexity at scale. Applying that architecture to healthcare is the ultimate opportunity to make a positive impact," Thayne said. "Aledade has proven that the value-based care model works. My focus will be on scaling our engineering and data infrastructure with advanced AI to build products that enable clinicians to deliver high quality care to more patients with less administrative burden."
Dr. Mandel, a physician and software engineer, will join Aledade in August to lead external interoperability and data exchange efforts and help advance the company's AI strategy. As the chief architect for health at Microsoft Research, Dr. Mandel helped build open standards such as FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and the systems that allow clinicians, researchers and patients to use health information securely across organizational boundaries.
Aledade's industry-leading technology equips primary care organizations with the data, insights and tools they need to succeed in value-based care. Powered by Aledade's AI-driven technology platform, its suite of products - the Aledade App, Aledade Assistâ„¢ and patient engagement tools - drives improved clinical outcomes and primary care sustainability. Aledade was named the 2026 Best in KLAS winner for Value-Based Care Enablement Services by KLAS Research. Aledade earned from KLAS Research the highest national score of 95.7 out of 100, outperforming other enablers in loyalty, operations, relationship, services and value.
