STATEMENT: Senator Blunt Rochester Releases Statement on the ICE Killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis

Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) today released a statement on the killing of Renee Good by an agent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis.

"By now, we've all seen the horrific video coming out of Minnesota. The administration is turning a blind eye to what we can plainly see: rogue federal agents that have not been properly trained, escalating a situation they are unequipped to handle. The presence of these agents makes it harder for actual law enforcement to do their job and keep our communities safe.

"Unfortunately, we're seeing scenes like this across the country: militarized and masked ICE agents with broad, unspecific mandates using force without restraint. And rather than take accountability for their actions or de-escalate the situation, the administration is shutting local and state law enforcement out of the investigation to shield the officer from charges. They are even talking about giving him immunity. And to make matters worse, Secretary Noem is spreading dangerous misinformation.

"Three children are now without their mother, and the Minneapolis community is grieving yet another senseless civilian murder. This was an avoidable tragedy. Justice must be served."
