VIENNA, 14 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations (Vienna), Cynthia Chidiac presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Ghada Waly.
During her career, Ms. Chidiac has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Head of Mission, Mission of Lebanon to the European Union, Brussels, Belgium (2023-2025); Legal Advisor, UN Women, Beirut Office, Lebanon (2021-2023); Senior Research Assistant & Programme Lead on Women's Political and Economic Empowerment in Lebanon, Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship, American University of Beirut, Lebanon (2022-2023); Deputy Chief of Cabinet, Minister's Cabinet, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2020-2021); Legal Expert, Centre for Legal Consultations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2019-2020); Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations in New York (2018-2019); First Secretary, Political Officer, Embassy in Berlin, Germany (2013-2017); Deputy Chief of Mission/Head of Chancery/Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa (2012-2013); Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy in Freetown, Sierra Leone (2011); Desk Officer, Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants (2008-2012); Secretary of the Lebanese-Syrian Border Demarcation Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2011); Legal Researcher, Earth Link and Resources Development, UN Convention to Combat Desertification/National Action Plan Project, Lebanon (2006-2007); and Legal Consultant, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Lebanon (2006-2007).
Ms. Chidiac holds a master's degree in European studies from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, a master's degree in international and comparative environmental law from the Université de Limoges, France and a master's degree in public law from the Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, France.
She speaks Arabic, English, French and German.
