Director-General of Consular Affairs Department attends the memorial ceremony upon receiving the remains of the three Thai crew members aboard the Thai commercial vessel "Mayuree Naree"

On 3 July 2026, Mr. Mungkorn Pratoomkaew, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend the memorial ceremony upon receiving the remains of Mr. Panupong Muentan, Mr. Kiattisak Pawaphuchake, and Mr. Chawarit Chaiwong, the three Thai crew members aboard the Thai commercial vessel "Mayuree Naree," which encountered an incident while transiting through the Strait of Hormuz on 11 March 2026. He laid wreaths to express condolences along with the executives of Precious Shipping PLC, the owner of the vessel, at Suvarnabhumi Airport before the remains were transported back to their hometowns for family members to conduct religious rites and funeral ceremonies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Embassy in Tehran and the Department of Consular Affairs, have been coordinating and facilitating the relevant procedures to bring back the bodies of the three Thai crew members from Iran to Thailand. The Ministry would like to express its appreciation to the Omani and Iranian authorities for their kind cooperation.
