Free mobile app provides important information, updates, and real-time alerts from the Vancouver Police Department to enhance public safety
VANCOUVER - June 10, 2026 - The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is deploying a new tool to help keep the community safe. Today, the department announced the launch of VPD Connect, a free mobile application that's now available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
"Modern public safety relies on accessible, two-way communication between our department and the community we serve," said VPD Chief Steve Rai. "VPD Connect helps bridge that gap by putting our department's resources directly into the hands of our residents and visitors. It will complement the information we have on our website and provide real-time updates and alerts, creating greater peace of mind and quicker access to information on the go."
VPD Connect will provide Vancouver residents and visitors with real-time updates, information, and alerts relating to crime prevention, public safety, and major events. It also has features that allow the public to quickly and easily access 911 services, report crime online, and call the non-emergency phone line on a mobile device.
VPD Connect gives users access to key features and information, including:
Instant 911 Calling: Connect with emergency services directly within the app - regardless of your phone carrier or number.
Crime Reporting: Securely report crime online or click to call the VPD non-emergency line at any time.
Interactive Maps: Access the interactive mapping tool GeoDASH to see exactly where crime is happening in the city.
Preparedness Resources: Find checklists, safety tips and information on how to access important VPD support services.
