Due to elevated wildfire danger and forecasted hot, dry weather, Fire Marshals from the City of Spokane, Spokane Valley Fire Department, Spokane County, Cheney, Airway Heights, and Deer Park have enacted countywide burn restrictions effective 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Although the region has received recent rainfall, conditions remain favorable for wildfire ignition. These restrictions are intended to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and help protect lives, property, and natural resources throughout Spokane County.
Smoke from outdoor burning can negatively impact air quality and poses the greatest health risk to children, older adults, and individuals with heart or respiratory conditions.
Residents with questions should contact their local fire agency before lighting any outdoor fire.
Anyone who fails to immediately extinguish an unauthorized fire when directed by fire officials may be subject to misdemeanor penalties pursuant to International Fire Code Section 109 and Spokane County Code 3.02.
The regional Fire Marshals appreciate the community's cooperation in helping prevent wildfires and keeping Spokane County safe throughout the summer.
