Middle schoolers only have a couple weeks left to submit designs for St. Charles County's first-ever competition to design next year's "I Voted" stickers.
The County Election Authority is holding the contest to celebrate America's upcoming 250th birthday. Students in 6th-8th grade (or equivalent ages) have until Nov. 21 to submit their patriotic artwork for stickers that could be worn by up to 300,000 voters on three election days next year.
"We have several good entries so far," says St. Charles County Elections Director Kurt Bahr. "I'm looking forward to seeing what kids come up with to submit in the last couple weeks the contest is open."
To participate, students can download an entry form from sccmo.org/IVotedSticker. The form includes space for their artwork, a summary of the contest rules, and a line for parent/guardian signature. (Artwork must be contained within the allotted space on the submission form.)
Completed entry forms can be mailed or dropped off to the St. Charles County Election Authority at 397 Turner Blvd. in St. Peters.
The public will vote in January to choose the winning design among finalists selected by the Election Authority. The winning design will debut on "I Voted" stickers at next year's municipal elections in April.
Participants should read the full contest rules posted online , but here's a few notes:
