Man facing attempted murder after another man struck with vehicle in parking lot dispute: C25-179612

As previously released:

The Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate and identified a suspect after a man was struck down by a vehicle in August, 2025.

On August 3, 2025, just before 3:00 a.m., North District General Patrol officers attended to the parking lot of a hotel located in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street to check the wellbeing of a man struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, police located a man in his 40s who was injured and required medical attention. He was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The initial investigation revealed the injured victim and another man, not known to him got into an argument in the parking lot. As the victim proceeded to walk away, he was struck down by the suspect vehicle. The victim managed to get up but was hit a second time before the suspect drove off.

On October 9, 2025, a 51-year-old man was arrested.

He is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm

He was released on an Appearance Notice.

Update:

On March 3, 2026, the accused was re-arrested by the Major Crimes Unit and is facing a charge of Attempted Murder on the advice of Manitoba Prosecution Service.

The 51-year-old man was released on an Undertaking.
