Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and Japan

On February 3, political consultations were held in Tokyo between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and Japan, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan and Deputy Assistant Minister, Deputy Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Masaki Ishikawa.

During the consultations, the parties discussed a wide range of issues in bilateral agenda, including the existing dialogue оn political, trade and economic, technological, educational and cultural, tourism and humanitarian spheres, emphasizing the need to develop and expand relations in the mentioned areas. Both sides highlighted the meeting between the Prime Ministers of two countries last year and the importance of continuing bilateral visits.

Referring to the cooperation within international organizations, the parties noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of cooperation in multilateral platforms. In this context, the sides touched upon the possible cooperation towards the 17thConference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Armenia this year.

The sides exchanged views on regional realities, within which Deputy Minister Safaryan presented the latest developments in the South Caucasus, the efforts aimed at further institutionalization of the established peace and developing regional connectivity, including the adoption of the implementation framework of the "TRIPP" project and ongoing processes.
