Alumni Jillian Quinn ('23) and Marvin Argueta ('21) will lace up their running shoes and participate in the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon on November 1 while raising funds for the Baruch College Fund (BCF), which provides scholarships, enriches student experiences, and expands opportunities for current and future Bearcats.

For the second straight year, the BCF is an official charity partner of New York Road Runners for the world's largest marathon. The race-which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year-attracts more than 55,000 athletes and approximately two million spectators across the 26.2-mile course spanning all five boroughs. It will be broadcast live to nearly 500 million homes around the globe.

Together, Quinn and Argueta have already raised more than $7,900 from 92 donors in support of the cause.

Meet the Runners

Jillian Quinn earned a BBA in Economics from Baruch's Zicklin School of Business. She transferred to Baruch from Pace University during her sophomore year, attracted by the College's academic offerings and student involvement.

Quinn was an active campus community member serving as a TEAM Baruch peer mentor, vice president of external affairs for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and a student engagement assistant in the Office of Student Life.

When Baruch reopened after COVID-19, Quinn joined the women's swimming and diving team, serving as captain during her senior year. She later competed with the women's cross country team and won Rookie of the Year. Quinn's dedication to academics and athletics also earned her Baruch's Female Athlete of the Year and CUNYAC's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2022-23.

Quinn graduated with a full-time offer from Citibank's rotational analyst program and now serves as an assistant vice president in the U.S. consumer cards division. She says the support received from faculty, coaches, and fellow students played a significant role in her success.

"Running the NYC Marathon has always been a dream of mine, being able to do it while giving back to my alma mater that has given me so much makes this experience even more meaningful."

Marvin Argueta graduated cum laude from Baruch's Zicklin School of Business with a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems. As a first-generation college student, he was part of a community at Baruch that provided mentorship, support, and opportunities that helped shape his academic and professional journey.

Argueta co-founded Baruch's Consult Your Community (CYC) chapter, a national student-led pro-bono consulting organization. Through CYC, students support local businesses in New York City while developing leadership, consulting, and professional skills of their own.

Today, Argueta works as a technology consultant at EY and relocated to Los Angeles. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active through CrossFit, hiking, tennis, and snowboarding, but running remains one of his greatest passions.

Argueta is proud to give back to the institution that helped shape his journey and create opportunities for future students.

"I am excited to push myself beyond my comfort zone, embrace the discipline and resilience that marathon training requires, and achieve this milestone alongside the Baruch community."

Support the BCF

Founded in 1969, the BCF advances the mission of Baruch College, which is to provide a place of opportunity and exploration where students, faculty, and staff transform their futures, their professions, and their communities.

The nonprofit organization supports the brightest and most ambitious students, many of whom come from historically underrepresented or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Through philanthropy, the BCF helps open pathways to social mobility and long-term success for generations of Baruch Bearcats.
